Instagram introduces Story Likes, saves everyone’s DMs

Instagram on Monday announced a change to Stories, finally allowing users to like a Story without sending them a direct message. The change has been announced by Instagram boss Adam Mosseri.
It’s a small change – you’ll see a heart icon on stories, letting you like it – but a big relief for anyone who wants to show their support for another person’s story without barging in. in their DMs. It’s the Stories equivalent of texting, rather than calling someone on the phone.
❤️ I like private stories ❤️
Starting today, you can now send some love by liking people’s stories without sending a DM.
Likes on stories are private and don’t count. Instead, they appear as hearts next to people’s handles in your Stories view sheet. 🙏🏼 pic.twitter.com/l56Rmzgnnw

Stories won’t be made public like numbers like you normally see on other posts, but the story author will be able to see individual likes in the view sheet. This means you can still browse your story to see who replied to the story, if you want.
