From extended CUET-PG application deadline, state board results to changes to NCERT books and more: Top education news this week

During this week, several significant events took place in the education sector. From textbook changes to the reporting of entrance and board exam results in several states, here’s this week’s top education news.

NCERT has removed content on the Gujarat riots from the class 12 political science curriculum as part of a ‘textbook streamlining’ exercise in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a streamlined content note published by NCERT on Thursday, pages 187-189 on the Gujarat riots are among the deletions from the book. Page 105 of the book on the history of the “Naxalite movement”, and pages 113-117 on “Controversies concerning the emergency” have also been deleted.

The Ministry of Education announced on Thursday that it would launch a special program through the National Institute of Open Learning (NIOS) to support the “Agnipath” soldier recruitment program announced by the Center. As part of this initiative, NIOS will develop customized courses to help “Agniveers”, who have successfully enrolled, earn Class 12 Certificates of Achievement. Certificates that will be issued by NIOS will be recognized for teaching higher as well as for employment.

The result of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2022 has been announced. This year, the WBJEE 2022 exam was successfully conducted on April 30, 2022 and the answer sheets were made available on the official websites on May 26, 2022. Candidates dissatisfied with their results were given the opportunity to make objections by midnight May 28. , and a non-refundable fee of Rs 500 per response was charged to them.

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has started the online application process for admission to various Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and Certificate courses for the 2022-23 academic session. The deadline to apply for the SPPU UG and PG courses is July 12, 2022. However, candidates can submit their application forms no later than July 17 (11:59 p.m.) provided they pay a late fee. Admission tests for the same will take place from July 21, 2022 to July 24, 2022.

The results of Uttar Pradesh State Board of High School and Intermediate Class 10 and 12 were announced on June 18. The passing percentage in class 10 for boys was 85.25% while for girls it was 91.69%. The passing percentage increased from 83.31% in 2020 to 80.07% in 2019. A total of 51.92 lakh students had registered, of which 47.75 lakh students had taken the intermediate or madhyamik exams. A total of 27.8 lakh students had appeared for Class 10 and 24.1 lakh candidates had appeared for Class 12 board exams.

In class 12, the council recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.33, with the girls outperforming the boys this year too with a pass percentage of 90.01%. The boys amount to 81.21%. Divyanshi of Fatehpur tops with 95.40%.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-PG 2022 registration process. postgraduate programs in 42 central universities (CUET PG 2022) has been extended until July 4. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for CUET-PG on the official website – cue.nta.nic.in.
